People always hate on WD-40, but I can’t help but wonder. Does it actually do anything bad to finish? I only use it for wiping off fingerprints and stuff. It works like a charm for that!

Using WD40 to clean up the outside surfaces and wipe away fingerprints is definitely cool. Just dont use it as a primary gun oil for the moving parts or for long-term storage.

Have you ever given G96 or Break-Free a shot for that same job? I'm really curious...how do you think WD40 compares to them?

I usually apply WD40 only to my tools and garage gear. It’s great for loosening up stuck bolts and cleaning my vise, but I’m hesitant to use it on firearms. I’ve noticed it can leave behind a residue that attracts dust, and it doesn’t give the same long-term protection. I once used it on a worn-out .22, and after just a few weeks in storage, I discovered some surface rust.
