Two years ago, I fished for salmon on the Kenai River. I caught a huge king salmon. You won't believe it, but it was 45 pounds. It fought hard for 30 minutes. Even the bears were watching from the shore. I can say Alaska is wild, haha.

I hooked one in the 30-pound range on the Kenai and thought my arms would fall off. The runs are wild up there.

Between dodging bears and dealing with the current, it's a whole different level of fishing compared to the lower 48.

Man, that brings back memories. I tangled with a silver salmon up near Soldotna, nowhere near 45 pounds, but it still gave me a heck of a fight before hitting the net.

Got a pic of it? Would love to see it 😁
