I don’t come across the 9.3×62 much outside of discussions but I think it has a solid reputation. Is it really popular among Alaskan hunters? How well does it perform in real-world situations?

I’ve always felt that the 9.3×62 doesn’t get much attention, but the folks using it up in Alaska really swear by it. From what I’ve observed, it’s definitely not as popular as the .338s or .375s, but the people who choose it are usually seasoned hunters who know exactly what they’re after. Every time I’ve seen it in action on moose or bear, it’s outperformed its “old European cartridge” label by a long shot. It delivers a powerful punch, penetrates deeply, and doesn’t leave you feeling battered like some of the larger magnums can.
