Marlin Trapper .45‑70

I've been considering a lever gun for hunting in dense woods and the Marlin Trapper .45‑70 is the one I'm thinking of. A short, powerful rifle sounds like the perfect fit for close shots in the brush. For those who have used one in the field, does it actually live up to the expectations?

I tried the 45-70 in a barrel of similar length and it’s great for thick woods. The Trapper would be even better! The power and handling are excellent, accuracy is good enough for hunting and is very reliable. The issue that I found is that the recoil can limit practice time for some folks. If you’re frequently hunting in dense cover, this is a great option.
