New to hunting

I just moved to the area and I’m completely new to hunting but I really want to learn the ropes. For someone starting from scratch, what’s the best way to go about it? Are there outfitters or mentors who can teach the basics, or is it more of a trial-and-error kind of experience?

I’d start by finding a mentor. Local shooting ranges, conservation groups and even community pages in small towns are great spots to connect with people who are willing to take a new hunter under their wing. Most Alaskans really value someone who’s ready to learn, explore the outdoors and pitch in with the gear.
