I’m looking to get a 1911 as a birthday gift for myself and I wanna be sure it’s something I’ll still enjoy owning in the years ahead. I’ve heard that this platform can be a little choosy so I’m looking for some guidance on how to make a smart choice right off the bat.

Great pick for a birthday gun! My suggestion would be to avoid anything below $600, go for Wilson or Chip McCormick magazines and stick with 230gr ball ammo for the break-in period. What do you plan to use it for?
