Got out to a local lake in Alaska last weekend with a buddy, targeting some trout. The weather was decent, a little overcast, and the water was surprisingly clear for this time of year. We tried a mix of spinners and spoons — seemed like the fish were more into the shiny stuff. Caught a couple decent rainbows early on, but then it slowed down. Lost a few good ones right at the bank, which is always a bummer. Ended up with three keepers and a nice lunch. How are the fish biting in your area?

I fished a small river near Fairbanks a couple weeks ago, and the rainbows were hitting silver spoons hard in the fast water. I landed four big fishes before lunch but lost two right at my boots

Fishing has been pretty good around here. With the cooler temps, the fish have moved into some shallower spots, and they're really going after small jerkbaits and inline spinners. If you can get out early in the morning, that's when it's at its best. Once the sun gets up high, things tend to slow down a bit, unless you're targeting those deeper structures.
