Seeing a bit more bear sign than I’m comfortable with near camp made me reconsider my setup. The gun shoots just fine, but I’d hate to wish I had something bigger if things got dicey. What do y'all carry when you’re in bear territory? Is 250gr enough?

When it comes to the 250gr question, it really depends on your gun. If you're using a .45-70 or something similar, a 250gr hard cast bullet at a good velocity will handle black bears just fine. But in grizzly territory, most folks I know opt for 300-400gr hard cast loads to ensure better penetration and sectional density. Those heavier bullets tend to cut through heavy bone and muscle more effectively.
