Making my tools rust-free

I have a few old hand tools that are quite rusty. What techniques have you all used that really work without damaging the metal?

For rusty tools, I soak them in white vinegar overnight, then scrub them with a brass brush. I oil them right away after that, if you skip the oil, the rust comes back quickly

A mix of baking soda paste and steel wool works, just don’t rush, rust hates speed.
