My red dot has lived on three rifles

I bought a quality red dot and mounted it on my first rifle. When I sold that rifle I moved it to another, then it moved again. At some point I started questioning whether the repeated remounting had affected zero so I kept checking it at the range. Eventually I realized it made more sense to just leave it alone and get a second one if needed.

Swapping works until doubt creeps in, then you spend more time confirming zero than actually shooting and trusting your setup

That optic’s basically a veteran at this point, at some stage buying a second one saves more time than chasing doubts.

I went through that whole dance myself before it clicked that I was just making things too complicated. Now I just keep the optics where they make sense and add another one if the situation actually calls for it.
