Short barrel shotgun?

I've been working on my rifle and shotgun collection, and I've been thinking a lot about bear defense lately. Instead of going for a big handgun, I'm considering a short shotgun loaded with slugs. What do you guys think?

Just make sure it's something you can handle quickly and with confidence, especially when things get stressful. Some people really like handguns because they're easy to carry around. But if you find yourself in thick woods or hanging out by the campfire, a short shotgun can be a smart choice. No matter what you go with, practice and being comfortable with your gear is super important

If I were you, I’d totally stick with a dependable pump like the Mossberg 590 or the Remington 870. Keep things straightforward, and just make sure it feeds your favorite slugs without a hitch. You want something you can trust.
